Boston Bruins general manager Peter Chiarelli announced this week that forward Mark Recchi and the NHL team signed a one year agreement worth 1 million dollars base salary plus bonuses. The veteran player said he is excited to be back and that he loves playing hockey.

Recchi has already played in 21 NHL seasons and won the Stanley Cup twice. During the 2009-2010 NHL season, the player posted 18 goals and 25 assists for 43 points in 80 hockey games with the Boston Bruins. Coach Claude Julien, Chiarelli and Recchi started discussing the comeback immediately following the season.

“Rex was a terrific player for us and helped our group leadership-wise and he's a Hall of Famer to be and he's going to help some of the young kids,” Chiarelli commented about the NHL player. “We're excited to have him back.” For Recchi, this is a new opportunity to end business with the Bruins in a better way than before, when they ended the season losing to the Philadelphia Flyers.

For Recchi, the Boston Bruins will have a better season in 2010-2011 and he’s happy he’ll get the chance to play with the newest member of the Bruins, Tyler Seguin. “I think it's wonderful. Anytime you can get a kid like that, they're franchise players," Recchi commented. "We're very fortunate and up the middle we have three dynamic guys and you throw this kid in the mix, he could possibly play wing, he's going to be an important part.”
